Monday 21st September 2015
Hi everyone!
A huge Marquisway welcome to some new people, they are Stephen, Diane, Elaine, Gary, Shaun, Joan and David. We hope that you will all be happy here.
We also have some more new members of staff. Another big welcome to Marina, Michael and Sheana. We're sure that you'll be happy here.
News.
You'll be really impressed to know that a massive £210 was raised from the coffee morning in aid of 'Parkinsons UK'. Pamela Charlton won the Hamper raffle. Lucky Pamela, well done!
We have 3 dates for your diaries, we need lots of people out in the garden for clean up days.
22nd September - NHS staff, The Stroke association have arranged this.
25th September - NHS - arranged through the Stroke Assoc.
30th September - This is our very own clean up day arranged by Sow n Reap.
We also have a volunteer coming to help out in the garden on Wednesdays, her name is Barbara.
On Monday 28th September we have the Marquisway Disco. It starts at 6.30 and finishes at 9.30pm. It costs just £2.00 to get in and your carers get in for free. We have Hot Dogs and Burgers on sale for £1.00 each also Tea, coffee or cola drinks for 50p each.
Every Friday afternoon we have a Cinema Club. Seats are limited so check with Ronald T2 for a place. There are lots of films that will be shown and there is a list available so that you can pick out the films that you fancy watching.
We also have a lunch club. This is in Team Room 2. Enjoy your packed lunch with your friends in a relaxed and peaceful environment. Staff will be around to help you.
Thursday 24th September we have the Breakfast club. Treat yourself to a bacon butty (or sausage, or egg, or bacon and egg, or.... well, you get the picture!) There is a price list on the notice board in the dining hall.
The Carnival (formerly known as The Fashion Show) is coming together nicely. There's lots of hard work going on with the costumes and the chorography. Rehearsals are starting and the Wheelchair dancers are learning their routines. We're all looking forward to seeing it at the Christmas Fair in December before it goes on tour in 2016.
Wheelchair Dance sessions are every Wednesday morning in the performing Arts Room. Our very own Blogger, Peter, is a wheelchair dancer. He thinks that it is really good fun. The music is good and the dance routines are easy to learn but look really excellent.
Places of Interest.
Remember we asked a little while ago, that should any of you visit somewhere that you think the rest of us might enjoy, that you tell us all about it. Well, Team 3 have done just that! They had a trip to Ouseburn Farm. Admission is free although there is a box for donations. Access around the gardens is ok although can be a little tricky for wheelchairs but manageable with care.
There is a cafe on site but it was felt that it was a little bit pricey. Toilet facilities available for everyone.
Feedback from the chaps and chapesses that were there was that it was worth 5 stars! By the way it opens at 10am.
Thankyou to Team 3 for taking the time to let us know!
Well that's it for this week folks, sorry we're lacking in photo's, we had planned for a 'fire evacuation point' display but someone messed up the photo shoot! (No we're not going to tell you who! lol)
Best wishes, have a great week. See you back here soon!
