Hi there,
Welcome back to our BLOG.


First of all a couple of reminders about up and coming events.






Some of our Special Olympic Boccia team are competing this weekend in a tournament called The Heathcoat Cup, this is at Northumbria University in Newcastle. They need to have taken part in 3 competitions that are not Special Olympic events in order to qualify for the National Summer Games 2017. We wish them all well and will be rooting for their success and many more medals in our trophy cabinets!

The Carnival






This years Performing Arts spectacular hits the road next week, 25th February, with their first show of many at St Chad's, in Bensham. Good Luck everyone.

NEW: BLOGGERS CHARITY  PROJECT




We have been approached about promoting charity collection of blankets and towels for the animals that are living at Brysons because they have not got a home of their own. We are currently discussing how we can best help them and we are hoping that you will help too. Watch this space for details.

There has been 31 Special Olympic Gateshead athletes selected, to represent the Northern region team in the 2017 National Summer Games, which are being held in Sheffield.
The Games will take place between Monday 7th August and Friday 12th August 2017. The opening ceremony is on Tuesday 8th August at Sheffield United's Bramwell Lane Football Ground. It is expected that around 7,000 athletes, spectators and officials will be attending from all over the country.

On February 29th 2016 at Marquisway, Mr Keith Wilcox (Northern region chairperson) will be visiting to provide an overview to athletes and family/carers about the summer games.

Welcome back!
Short and sweet this week.


Firstly, the Pancake day was a huge success! There were different toppings available to suit everyone's taste. Lemon juice, treacle, fruit, cream and chocolate sauce set everybody's taste buds tingling trying to decide what to choose!

Secondly, Team 2 Chinese New year decorations were up and on display.


Everybody enjoyed working on the project. They spent time researching Chinese culture and customs.

Next week we will be meeting with Angela from Team 2 to discuss becoming involved with a charity. We will have more information about this after we have spoken to her. we think it will be a good way to help support local charities through our BLOG.

Valentines Disco

Don't forget it's the Valentines Disco on Friday 12th from 1pm. Our resident DJ is looking forward to playing all your favourite 'Love Songs'. We'll see you there!

I-Muse Room
We are now using our new rooms. One of these rooms is the I-muse. This is a system that is controlled by computer. It responds to  movement and creates music and light patterns.

Team 3 will be holding a Pancake day event. Pancakes will be available to buy for 80p each. Different toppings will be on offer too Mmmmmmmm pancakes! Don't forget to bring your money in for a treat!

10 of our Special Olympic Boccia players will be in Newcastle, flying the flag for Gateshead in this competition. We're sure that you will join with us in wishing them well.

Thursday 25th February - The Carnival at St Chad's!

Our Carnival takes to the road to share this spectacular show around the region. The first of these dates will be at St Chad's in Gateshead.
