Monday 29th June 2015

Hi there and welcome back to Marquisway Blog!

Well what a week that was! Lots of holiday trips to different parts of the country and even to some different places in the world.
One of our Bloggers went over to Newcastle to do some shopping, bought himself a snazzy pair of trainers and a full English breakfast, also a sneaky pint of beer too!
Blackpool seemed to be a favoured destination although some reports were that the hotel was not very good. Hope they left a complaint with the management.

Just before we broke up for our holidays, team 4 went to the Woollen Woods for a summer trip. We have some photo's of the day. Feedback has been very good from everyone that went along, it was a great day out.

There were a lot of different things that had been knitted for the displays

Snakes Alive!

Oops, no Deacon and Chris were definitely not knitted!

The whole display was really, really good.

We have more photographs and we will be printing them off for our album. In the mean time if you fancy checking the place out it's at 'Talkin Tarn', Carlisle. (Just along the A69)

We'll have more trip info for you as and when they happen.

Other news... We have a new games session that takes place in the hall. This is proving very popular. Please see Allison Hood for details, think we will arrange for some photo's for this activity, it sounds like fun!
There is a history group in team 3 please see Jackie for information.
The Independant living skills group is making great progress and we will ask for them for some photographs.

Anyway we're all hoping that the weather improves as it wasn't very good while we were off. It would be good to have a lovely summer so that we can enjoy our gardens and make the most of trips out.
Don't forget to keep taking photographs for us or letting us know if something is happening so that we can arrange interviews and get photo's for this blog.

Disco night tonight! Hope we'll see you there!

Another reminder about the summer fair on 23rd July. Donations still required for the stalls please. (Wine, toiletries, food stuffs, dvd's, cd's, knick knacks etc etc etc)

Finally, don't forget to bring sun protection cream in with you. Your skin can still burn even if the sun is not shining.
Ask staff for more information about this.

See you again next week,

Best Wishes from your Blogging Team.

Monday 15th June 2015

Hi there, welcome back.

Sadly we have had a few issues with our computer today so this will only be a short blog.

It seems that we have had some people digging out weeds and planting some new plants in our raised beds at the front entrance. We have a photograph of this for you.

Doesn't it look better?

Everyone should be talking about Summer trips now, team 4 are away off to Carlisle tomorrow, for a trip to the Woollen Woods exhibition at Talkin Tarn. Fingers crossed for a nice sunny day.
Talk to the staff in your teams if you have any ideas for a
destination.

Work on the out buildings is still ongoing. We are hoping for an Imuse room and possibly a digital suite, watch this space!

Our sensory garden is now open again, maybe you could pull up a few weeds as you relax out there!

There won't be a Blog next week as Marquisway is closed for the first week of our summer break. We re-open on 29th June, just in time for the Monday night disco. Hope to see you there.

Have a fabulous holiday, hope the weather is good for you whether you stay at home or go away.

Best wishes
Your Blog team.

This is just a test photograph.
8th June 2015

Welcome back to Marquisway Blog.

We have feedback from the latest Fashion Show. Susan, one of our Blogger team, kindly reported back to us after gathering information from the Fashionista's!

The Fashion Show was held at Dryden School. There was a lot of people there, they seemed to enjoy the show and were dancing, clapping and cheering. This was the last show of this tour. It's really good fun and we can't wait for the next tour to start.

We checked with Wendy about how many volunteers had come forward to help weed the raised beds at the front reception area. We were really surprised to find that NOBODY has so far volunteered to tidy the place up. Imagine how good Marquisway will look if we each just spent a little time tidying it.

Don't forget...

Marquisway will be closed for the week beginning Monday 22nd June, we re-open on Monday 29th June.

Monday 29th June, DISCO NIGHT!! The disco starts at 6.30, there will be refreshments available to buy on the night, there will also be a raffle. It costs £2.00 a ticket but your carers get in for free.

Thursday 23rd July will be our summer fair. We still need donations for the raffles, tombola, cake stalls, white elephant stall, books, DVD's etc. Anything will be gratefully recieved.

It seems that we have someone coming down from ICT to help us to sort out our computer so that we will be able to upload photographs. So we will sign off for now and hopefully we will have a more colourful blog next week!

If you have anyhing that you would like us to log about please get in touch!

Have a good week,

Your Blog Team

Monday 1st June 2015.

Hi there, hope that you all enjoyed the bank holiday weekend. We certainly made the most of having an extra lie in!

For starters, we have some feedback for you about the Pandemonium Drummers event in aid of the Special Olympics.
There was over one hundred people turned up all together, around 70 service users and their carers plus approximately 20 volunteers and staff. The Drummers were brilliant, really good fun and everyone enjoyed the performance.
The Pandemonium Drummers are the volunteer drummers from the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony. They wore Light blue suits with Light bulbs on their bowler hats.
There was a cake stall, Tombola, Book and Cd stall, Jewellery stall, various raffles and of course refreshments were available. There was around £820 raised for the Special Olympics. Well done to everyone involved.

Wendy has asked for volunteers from Marquisway to help to weed the raised beds at the main entrance. If we get the weeds out we can plant some colourful flowers which will make the area much prettier for when people are visiting the centre. Please let your team staff know of your willingness to help.

The sensory garden is now open again for us to use. As the weather improves into summer it will be lovely to sit out there, why not try having your morning or afternoon break outside?
There will also be some weeding work required out there as it has been blocked off so the gardeners have been unable to make a start.

The work is ongoing on the out buildings. They are being renovated to create more usable space. We will let you know more about this as the work nears completion.
Finally for this blog, we have a date for you to put in your diaries!
Marquisway Summer Fair will be held on 23rd July 2015, we would greatly appreciate any donations for the stalls, the tombola and raffles.

Don't forget, if you have anything hat you would like us to 'blog' about please see one of the bloggers!

Best Wishes,

Peter, Christine, Keith, Susan.
(and Karen)

Ps. We have 2 new bloggers, Ms Susan Dalton and Mr Keith Skelton. More about them next time!
