Monday 1st June 2015.
Hi there, hope that you all enjoyed the bank holiday weekend. We certainly made the most of having an extra lie in!
For starters, we have some feedback for you about the Pandemonium Drummers event in aid of the Special Olympics.
There was over one hundred people turned up all together, around 70 service users and their carers plus approximately 20 volunteers and staff. The Drummers were brilliant, really good fun and everyone enjoyed the performance.
The Pandemonium Drummers are the volunteer drummers from the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony. They wore Light blue suits with Light bulbs on their bowler hats.
There was a cake stall, Tombola, Book and Cd stall, Jewellery stall, various raffles and of course refreshments were available. There was around £820 raised for the Special Olympics. Well done to everyone involved.
Wendy has asked for volunteers from Marquisway to help to weed the raised beds at the main entrance. If we get the weeds out we can plant some colourful flowers which will make the area much prettier for when people are visiting the centre. Please let your team staff know of your willingness to help.
The sensory garden is now open again for us to use. As the weather improves into summer it will be lovely to sit out there, why not try having your morning or afternoon break outside?
There will also be some weeding work required out there as it has been blocked off so the gardeners have been unable to make a start.
The work is ongoing on the out buildings. They are being renovated to create more usable space. We will let you know more about this as the work nears completion.
Finally for this blog, we have a date for you to put in your diaries!
Marquisway Summer Fair will be held on 23rd July 2015, we would greatly appreciate any donations for the stalls, the tombola and raffles.
Don't forget, if you have anything hat you would like us to 'blog' about please see one of the bloggers!
Best Wishes,
Peter, Christine, Keith, Susan.
(and Karen)
Ps. We have 2 new bloggers, Ms Susan Dalton and Mr Keith Skelton. More about them next time!
